jen's birthday picnic

Jen's birthday is today, November 5th. Unfortunately all 3 of her assistants called in sick today for work so she's there all alone. Not so much fun, especially finding out at the last minute. However, we were able to go on a sweet picnic on Mt. Tam yesterday - went there in the afternoon and got our favorite spot - though the Mountain was more crowded than normal, no one was in our place. We had salad, chips and guacamole and a little bit of wine while overlooking the ocean and the bay. Later we took a short hike on the Simmons trail that went past Ben Stein's trail. Later that night we saw Ben Stein on his show America's stupidest model, or something like that....

to china!

jen's going to china tomorrow! wo shi senqi. (sp)

she'll be there for about three weeks - i hope she stays safe and sends me lots of email when she can. otherwise, i'll have absolutely no idea where the ?":> she is.

we went to dinner tonight at old weang peang and altho i was supposed to take her out, i forgot that they only take cash and she had to pay for most of it.

i'm a big jerk for that one.

so we're going to hang out a bit tonight and then she's off to SFO in the early AM.

Holidays 2006

It's time for the holidays and because Jen & I have family in different states we're going our own way for a few weeks, but will meet up again in Chicago for New Year's. Before I left Oakland on tuesday we did some good hanging out which included a nice dinner at Spettro and a little too much Law & Order. Here's here & Josie living it up!

A good weekend?

So I'm leaving on tuesday - usually when I leave town Jen finds some reason to get mad at me - but not so this time, I think, not sure, I haven't left yet.
We went to Frisco yesterday to see a movie at the horror film fest caleld Anoterh Hole in the Head. The movie was called 'Gravedancers' and was pretty good - not alot of gore, but a good stroy and actually good acting - wild. We got food at Taqueria Cancun, the veggie burrito's there are the best! Jen wasn't so into her steak tacos - she should stop eating meat.
I went back to Oakland on the BART after a drink at Elbo Room, she stayed to hang out with her friend Maria to see Flipper and some other bands. I went to bed kind of early....sleepy for some reason.
today she took me out to breakfast at the Lakeshore Cafe - always good, and then walked around the lake to the Oakland Museum of California to see an exhibit on the 1906 earthquake called 'Aftershock!'. The exhibit was a'ight, nothing too deep - an earthquake simulater that didn't seem too scary - I wondered, what would happen if a real earthquake struck while on the earthquake simulator?

Walked back around the lake and got a bottle of wine which is now almost completely gone. Made coconut curry almost right, but with Indian curry powder instead of Thai - DAMN!
Really did mess it all up.
Not so hard to cook though.

Jen Stays in SF

Jen stayed in San Francisco last night to have fun. I almost met her there because the BART ran 24 hours - amazing! But then she had to catch another bus to get to the neighborhood I was in.

Today we saw An Inconvenient Truth, then rode our bikes back to our neighborhood for ice cream. We ate it at Lake Merritt while looking at the geese and loony birds taking baths.

It will be pretty depressing when the world is totally screwed up because of too much CO2.

i'm here, she's there

oh jen, i miss my jen, she is quite far away and we won't see each other for a bit here.. but i'll use my time here to get used to oakland and be able to tell here the good things to do and the bad things to not do.... of course she'll have to find her own things also - she's all growed up,
she's in st louis this weekend, i'll put up a picture of her from there when we were there together back in april (it was fricking cold that weekend),,,,

i leave tomorrow

so i leave tomorrow & i must leave jen, for a few months. it started really hitting me tonight at dinner. we went to the handlebar...jen asked me where i'd like to go & for some reason i thought of the vegetarian bike place that has the good bbq seitan & mac & cheese....
i was looking at here & started thinking about me driving away tomorrow, it was triggered when she asked me about doing something tomorrow - getting isight webcams - but i said "i don't want to deal with that tomorrow" and then i got sad cause i won't be able to do things with her for awhile here....
speaking of which, it's time to give her some attention.....
